Phase One/Leica split, rumors of Canon/Leica Partnership.
It seems that Phase and Leica have split due to irreconcilable differences. In October 2008, at Photokina, the two had announced a partnership with the MF S2 line. Leica still plans to develop the system, but without phase.

In related “news” it was reported that there is a rumor floating around that Canon is working Leica on the M-series cameras. Nothing is confirmed but the probablity is much higher now with the news of the Phase/Leica split
